No, not Britain this time, but Australia, where years of the Howard monster has pulled politics far to the right. So much so that union officials are debating asking their members to vote Green Party in the Senate.

Unfortunate that you had to link to a Murdoch rag (known here as the Government Gazette)but the point is still valid.
As Thatcher answered, when asked what was her greatest achievement,”Blair” so Howard’s lasting legacy will be Krudd.
At least here we have the power of Preferential Voting plus Transferable Preference which means that a vote for a soi-disant ‘minor party’ isjn’t a wasted vote as it is in Britian with your iniquitous first-past-the-post. It is a triumph of media duplicity & mendacious politicicians that so many Brits think PR leads to “Italian instability” when in fact all over Europe it leads to finely balanced coalitions with no party ever having dictatorial power.
Thatcher’s highest vote was in 1979 and declined thereafter, until Major increased it from her lowest. The Tories never came within cooee of getting a majority of the popular vote.
