… and particularly to Jim on The Daily Maybe, who has been rightly named by Iain Dale as the year’s top Green blogger.
In my opinion there’s a fine selection there – the Green blogosphere has come a long way in the past couple of years (and no, I’m not just saying that because I come in at No 7 – although thanks Iain).
But you’ve still got time to register your opinions, for Jim is running a people’s choice award. You’ve got until September 1 to vote.
(And finally, in the just deserts category – I’m not laughing, really, about the fact that a group of American climate change-deniers has had to postpone their meeting due to a tropical storm. No – storms aren’t caused by climate change, but their frequency is increased…)

Re the AFP’s forced change of plans, I recall something a wise uncle told me once: “Time wounds all heels.” At least now the little dears won’t run much risk of sunburn/skin cancer thanks to the depleted UV-muting properties of the atmosphere.
A heads-up: here in Arkansas, we may be on the verge of seeing a GRINO (Green In Name Only) win a seat in the lower house of the state legislature. The candidate did not intend to run for the seat until a former incumbent, who was “named and shamed” into resigning after pleading guilty to reduced charges of sexual shennanigans with an under-aged constituent, went back on his word and filed to run once more. The local Democratic Party tried to disown the former officeholder but he’d filed–and it was too late to stage a single-district primary election. So another Democrat simply changed his party affiliation to Green and is on the ballot as such. The latest development in this potboiler is that the Legislature has adopted a rule excluding those convicted of moral turpitude from being seated, even if elected. So, the GRINO is pretty much assured an easy victory.
Yes, election-time is truly the Silly Season.
