Carnival of Feminists

Carnival of Feminists No 21

Drumroll please … the Carnival of Feminists No 21 is now up on Being Amber Rhea. And this time you don’t even have to imagine the sound-effects, because Amber has created a carnival first – a podcast. I’m at work so I can’t listen to it now, but I’m sure it is just as excellent as the rest of the carnival.

I was particularly taken by the section on defining your feminism – always a tough task. (My answer usually depends on which day you ask me…)

But don’t dally here, do go over and check out the carnival.

Break out the streamers…

… for it is carnival time. Now up on Super Babymama, the Carnival of Feminists No 20.

And it is a spectacular, if often shocking show: posts from the carnage in the Middle East (both Lebanon and Iraq), and a focus on the effects of poverty – I was particularly taken by a post by cat(s)wymming about how living the grad student life is for her a relief from poverty (when others regard it as such).

But don’t waste time here – go over there and check out the full spread. And do please help to spread the word!

Carnival of Feminists

Carnival of Feminists Feminism

Carnival time!

And it is gorgeously hot and sunny (at least in the UK it is), so you can get to enjoy it to the full. The Carnival of Feminists No XIX is up on Figure: Demystifying the Feminist Mystique. Alisha has done a spectacularly good job – it could hardly be more diverse, from the problems with male gynaecologists in Kenya (one with which I’m sure many parts of the world could concur) to a celebration of Frida Kahlo (regular readers of my blog will know I’m a fan). There’s a particular focus on “women and careers” – broadly defined: suggestions range from Nascar driver to Texas snitch, scientist to comic book character. Something for everyone – do check it out!

Nomination time…

Don’t forget that the next edition of the Carnival of Feminists is coming up this week, on Figure: Demystifying the Feminist Mystique – nominate early, nominate often.

The theme is “loosely based around feminism and career – but as usual this is just a recommendation and you can follow it or totally ignore it”.

Email feministfigure AT gmail DOT com, or you can use the nomination form.
