Carnival of Feminists No 43

Apologies for the belated link, but I can tell you that the Carnival of Feminists No 43 is now up on Femtique, and a superb collection it is too.

I particularly liked the link about the gender perspective on climate change – “women and children are 14 times more likely to die during a disaster”, and what climate change means is, to put it simply, lots more disasters.

And the artThailand post about a fascinating – and highly unusual! – Thai woman.

But don’t waste time here – go over there and check it out…

(But when you’ve done that you might like to follow up a couple of other pieces I’ve been reading: about how Tasmanian aboriginal women learned to swim, while the men generally didn’t; and about Gayle McLaughlin, Green Mayor of Richmond, near San Francisco – the first Green mayor in any US city/town with a population greater than 100,000.

Carnival of Feminists No 42

The Carnival of Feminist No 42 is now up on Uncool, and a mighty spectacular collection it is, with many blogs that I haven’t previously seen – there is a general “sex-positive” theme, but you won’t be sent anywhere unsafe for even conservative workplaces without warning.

I thought the post on Ex-Courtesan in Transition, on the dangers of victim feminism, was particularly powerful.

Lina did a great job, despite the computer gods conspiring against her – so don’t waste time here – please go over there and check it out!

Carnival of Feminists

Carnival of Feminists No 41

It’s here, it’s huge, it’s great – Carnival of Feminists No 41 over on Cruella-blog.

So many goodies I hardly know what to pick out – an F-word podcast (yeah – let’s take the boys’ toys away), a great post of pregnancy and motherhood that reminds me hugely of all of the friends I’ve watched go through it over the years, and much, much more…

But don’t waste time here – go over there and check it out!

Carnival of Feminists

Carnival of Feminists No 40

There was a bit of waiting for it, since we lost a host along the way, but it proved well worth it: the Carnival of Feminists No 40 is now up on the hidden side of the leaf.

And it is something a bit different – a carnival on the theme of women and books – there is a book about breasts (pretty “womanly” that); a book translated Tamizh, the language of the Tamils of South India; and, a book about biblical businesswomen, plus much, much more.

But don’t waste time here – do go over there and check it out.

Carnival of Feminists: upcoming, the books edition

I’ve been distracted lately, for which apologies, but it has just been pointed out to me that carnival No 40 is missing in action. I’m chasing that up, but in the meantime, No 41 is looking pretty special – here’s a call for action:

Carnival No. 41 will be book-themed; it’s being hosted by The Hidden Side of a Leaf, a books blog. Book reviews would be great – maybe you’ve read a non-fiction book about a feminism-related topic, a biography of a feminist, or a novel with a strong female character. Posts about feminist writers are also very welcome, as are posts about anything book-related you can think of. Other submissions will also be considered, so feel free to submit anything you would normally submit if you don’t have anything book-related this time.

Please get your nominations in ASAP – but definitely by July 2. You can use the submission form or email dewpie AT gmail DOT com.

Carnival of Feminists

Carnival of Feminists No 39

I can only apologise – I don’t know where the first half of June has gone really, but the Carnival of Feminists has been up on Laurelin in the Rain for a week now and I haven’t pointed you over to it. All I can really do is point you there now, and I’m particularly taken by its international aspects – Kenya, Iraq and more.

So don’t waste time over here – do go over there and check it out. (If of course you haven’t done so already and are wondering how I’ve been so off the ball!)
