{"id":3153,"date":"2009-10-11T23:46:05","date_gmt":"2009-10-11T23:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/philobiblon.co.uk\/?p=3153"},"modified":"2009-10-11T23:46:05","modified_gmt":"2009-10-11T23:46:05","slug":"the-bounty-of-nature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/philobiblon.co.uk\/?p=3153","title":{"rendered":"The bounty of nature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have been having a big autumn garden tidy up and replanting, on my balcony and in the communal pots in our informal community vegetable garden.<\/p>\n<p>Found that a poor, struggling aubergine plant that barely reached 20cm in height had somehow produced a single offspring almost as large as itself (and found cherry tomatoes had insinuated themselves in every crevice and corner).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/philobiblon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/cornucopia-300x257.jpg\" alt=\"aubergine and tomato\" title=\"aubergine and tomato\" width=\"300\" height=\"257\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3154\" srcset=\"https:\/\/philobiblon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/cornucopia-300x257.jpg 300w, https:\/\/philobiblon.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/cornucopia.jpg 966w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What I&#8217;ve replaced them with is the &#8220;mini veggie garden&#8221; from <a href = \"http:\/\/www.rocketgardens.co.uk\/about-us.asp\">this seller<\/a>, which arrived very greenly wrapped in hay (now forming a &#8220;fleece&#8221; around the seedlings.<\/p>\n<p>It is quite a selection: broad beans, spinach, red dandelion, a range of winter lettuce, rainbow chard and more &#8230; we should be a well-nourished council estate, at least on the nourishment found in leafy greens, if they all flourish!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have been having a big autumn garden tidy up and replanting, on my balcony and in the communal pots in our informal community vegetable garden.
