Aboriginal health in Australia is far worse than that of indigenous people in New Zealand, Canada and even the US – and the dreadful death rates (20 years earlier than other Australians), and infant mortality (50% higher than in indigenous groups in Canada and NZ) are showing no sign of improvement.
It is something I write about again and again, because I think too many people outside Australia, lulled by its “sunny” image, even with a Howard government, fail to recognise the depths of the shame.
