Sciences: lows and highs

For the first time a giant squid, inhabitant of the ocean depth, has been filmed, the BBC reports. And it looks like the horror movie people might have been right about its hunting methods, and the scientists wrong.

And reality is also getting a little closer to the SF writers – particularly Kim Stanley Robinson of the Mars trilogy fame (although I don’t know if he invented the idea) – wiith a successful experiment on the quest to build a space elevator – which if it ever came off, would get rid of all those messy, dangerous rocket engines.
